Labor MP Michael Danby has accused former NSW Premier Bob Carr of undermining the government by pushing for unqualified recognition of a state of Palestine.
Mr Danby told SKY NEWS Mr Carr is orchestrating resolutions on the Middle East ‘to fuel his obsession’, a move which he said is ‘designed to put pressure on the federal leadership.’
The comments come after the Australian Newspaper reported the NSW Labor branch is expected to abandon ideological support for Israel at this month’s state conference,
Reports say the party will instead favour a policy of categorical and immediate recognition of statehood for Palestine.
