Police unhappy about patrol with Jewish security guards: Police Association

The Police Association says being forced to patrol with third parties impedes on Victoria Police’s ability to respond to incidents.

Victoria Police has agreed to take a private Jewish security guard on patrol for four days later this month during Jewish New Year and Yom Kippur.

Police Association Secretary Wayne Gatt said the issue surrounded the safety of members.

“Unless there’s a really legitimate reason for this to happen, does the risk outweigh the benefits?” Mr Gatt said on 3AW Mornings.

“It’s something we have raised with command and they have a different view to us.

“We don’t train to work with third parties, it impedes on the police response.”
