Masked troublemakers to be kicked out of city amid fears of clashes at protests

MASKED troublemakers will be ordered from the city and police empowered to stop and search anyone for weapons in a bid to thwart trouble between protesters at two rallies on Sunday.

Hundreds are expected at the demonstrations — one demanding action on “out of control” crime including deportation of violent immigrant offenders and the other a counter protest against “thinly veiled racism and scapegoating”’.

It will be the first test of new public order laws aimed cracking down on masked rioters and those who unleash violence.

Ex-Israeli army soldier Avi Yemini, whose ‘Peaceful Protest: Make Victoria Safe Again’ event will be staged outside parliament from 1pm, said the sole focus was to call for action on crime and not about other issues like same-sex marriage.
