Yom Limmud was a rich and varied one-day Limmud event, held on 18 June 2017 at Glen Eira Town Hall from 11am to 7pm.
Limmud Oz alternates its large events between Melbourne and Sydney each year, and in 2017, Limmud Oz Sydney was running a full 2 day event. Melbourne’s Yom Limmud did not invite proposals for sessions from the community but provided a shorter curated program, taking advantage of the generosity of international presenters willing to come from Sydney for the day, as well as local talent. Yom Limmud was nevertheless still centred on the core Limmud philosophy of diversity – with a choice of sessions offered in all time slots except the final musical session which was beautifully diverse in its own right.
All Limmud events are immersion events and registration is not offered for individual sessions. This enhances the experience of participants and supports the Limmud philosophy that all sessions are given an equal platform.
The full Limmud Oz event will be back in June 2018, and submissions for sessions will be opened in March 2018.
