As horrific as events of the holocaust were, it is essential that we never forget what happened.
That is the purpose of The Holocaust: Witnesses and Survivors, a permanent exhibition that has been launched at the Australian War Memorial.
Two of those witnesses and survivors were Abe and Cesia Goldberg who have been married nearly 70 years and both live with the memories and trauma they endured.
Adam Shirley spoke to the Goldbergs along with Dr Lachlan Grant, Senior Historian in the Military History Section at the AWM.
