Jerusalem Keeps Christmas Tree Tradition

The Jerusalem Municipality is continuing its annual tradition this year – of distributing free Christmas trees to the city’s Christian residents.

The initiative is part of Jerusalem’s annual Christmas preparations – along with the hanging of celebratory lights and flags around the city where the holiday is observed.

The Jerusalem Post reports, 150 six-foot Arizona Cypress trees were donated by the Jewish National Fund

Jerusalem neighbourhoods received special treatment – such as the Old City’s Christian Quarter and streets used by Christian pilgrims.

Earlier reports that Nazareth’s mayor had cancelled Christmas festivities over President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital – were denied.

The municipality said one performance had been cancelled but the rest of the programme would continue as planned.
