Tax, Palestine, refugees and unions top ALP list for the year

Labor’s national left faction has resolved to make increasing taxes a priority for this year, along with recognising Palestine, a “kinder” refugee policy, empowering unions and greater democratisation of the party.

The left wants a focus on “rights” and a “social compact” that delivers greater equality to people at home and abroad. This includes “recognising the state of Palestine”and a “more humane” approach to asylum-seekers.
