Israeli court considers releasing Malka Leifer to home arrest

Israel’s Supreme Court has ordered former Melbourne school principal and ­accused child molester Malka Leifer be kept in police custody in hospital while it considers moving her to house arrest.

Victorian police are seeking the extradition of the 54-year-old on 74 charges.

Israeli prosecutors say she is feigning mental illness to avoid extradition, but her lawyer, ­Yehuda Frieda, told the court in Jerusalem on Thursday she is not a flight risk.
