AN ISRAELI company has created an innovative irrigation system for crops out of thin air.
Roots Sustainable Agricultural Technologies has patented an “irrigation by condensation” technology it developed in Israel, which allows plants to be watered from condensation of humidity in the air.
The company’s co-founder and inventor of its core technology Boaz Wachtel said the irrigation by condensation technology had the potential to turn semi-arid regions into profitable and productive crop growing areas.
Mr Wachtel said water was chilled in an above-ground tank using solar power during the day and reticulated at night through a network of vertically oriented irrigation pipes placed in crops.
