Alarm scare at Limmud Oz

On Saturday night just before 8 pm an alarm went off in H building at Monash University requiring that all people in the building had to be evacuated. The fire brigade turned up to check out the cause of the alarm, rumored by some to have been caused by a coffee machine that had been steaming causing a smoke alarm detector to be triggered.

There were other rumours also circulating, one attendee of the Paul Simon tribute that had been about to start in room H.116, suggested it might be a bomb scare made by a crazed anti-semite.

Melinda Jones, a co-ordinator of Limmud Oz 2018 spoke to JMedia to assure us that everything was under control. She said that the authorities had handled the situation very well indeed but could not say what had been the actual cause of the alarm, closing her remarks with a jocular  זהו (Hebrew for “that’s it”).

After about 20mins the alarm condition ended and the audience filed back into the building to savor a great night’s music.
