Tension rises as Syrian fighter jet is shot down by Israel

Israel has shot down a Syrian fighter jet in an escalation of tension between the two already hostile countries.

Israel hasn’t been directly involved in fighting in the Syrian war but with forces loyal to the Syrian regime conquering swathes of territory next to their border, hostilities have been ramping up.

The downing of the Syrian jet has prompted a warning from the United Nations that confrontations between Israel and Syria are becoming more frequent and dangerous.
