Former Israeli deputy PM’s visit to Moriah sparks protest

Police were last night on scene as protesters took to the streets outside Moriah College, where former Israel deputy PM Tzipi Livni was speaking at a private function.

Overnight protesters lined Queens Park Rd, making their voices heard as a former Israeli politician gave a speech inside Moriah College.

A police spokesman said the group had began their march on Oxford St, Bondi Junction, before making their way to the Modern Orthodox Jewish school.

About 10 officers were on scene at the time.

The event, the 2019 Gandel Oration, was held at Moriah but run by the Anti Defamation Council, Gandel Philanthropy and JNF Australia.

Its headline speaker was former Israeli deputy prime minister Tzipi Livni.

One passer-by reported the group were shouting “free Palestine”.
