UPDATE: As the fallout over Gina Carano and her controversial social media posts continues, The Hollywood Reporter reports that she’s been booted from The Mandalorian and won’t be returning to the show.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” Lucasfilm said in a statement.
Actress Gina Carano is the latest celeb immersed in cancel culture with fans demanding for her to be fired from her part on Disney’s television series The Mandalorian. #FireGinaCarano is trending on Twitter, perhaps for good reason, following some very controversial opinions she’s posted surrounding the Holocaust, Jews, Nazis and Republicans.
Carano, who was previously a MMA fighter, stars in the role of Cara Dune in the series based on the original Star Wars movie franchise.
The Instagram story in question that she posted has now been deleted, but it suggested that Republicans face similar persecution as Jews during the Holocaust.
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children,” the post began.
“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”
Accompanying the offensive caption was a photo of a Jewish woman wearing just underwear and screaming as she ran from armed males. It is a famous image from 1941 showing when Jewish people were killed by their neighbours in modern-day Ukraine due to German influence in the area.
