Paul Kelly, Julia Stone and Kee’ahn lead new concert honouring resistance to racism through song and story

Uprising: Songs of Resistance reminds us of the things that we are willing to fight for and those that bring us together.

The Festival of Jewish Arts and Music (FOJAM) teamed up with The Museum of Inherited Memories to present a new concert Uprising: Songs of Resistance on Thursday April 8 at St Kilda’s Memo Music Hall.

Inspired by Holocaust memorial honouring resistance to racism through song and story, the concert will feature an ensemble of powerful vocalists, including Paul Kelly, Julia Stone, Deborah Conway, Kee’ahn, Harry Angus, Shane Howard, Paul Grabowsky and Jess Hitchcock, among others.

Coinciding with the close of Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance and Heroism Day), Uprising: Songs of Resistance invites people from all backgrounds to celebrate resistance to racism through song and story.

As the first FOJAM event for 2021, the vocalists will gather to remember the Holocaust and celebrate ongoing survival and activism against racism, fascism and antisemitism, using their lyrics to inspire empathy among listeners.
