The Premier has announced plans for Queensland’s first Holocaust museum, which she says is a “significant milestone in the state’s cultural history”.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has revealed the state government will build Queensland’s first Holocaust Museum.
The Premier made the announcement on Thursday in Parliament in the presence of a 100-year-old survivor of the horrific crimes inflicted on Jewish communities during World War II.
“This is a significant milestone in the state’s cultural history and, today, I’ll be meeting with members of the Jewish community and Holocaust survivors and descendants of survivors to who this museum means so much and I honour their presence in the chamber today,” Ms Palaszczuk told Parliament.
“It will ensure future generations never, never forget.“We continue to tell the stories of the past so that history is never forgotten.”
The state government has invested $3.5 million on the museum to be located in the Cathedral Precinct in Brisbane.
