Iran’s Supreme Court has confirmed a death sentence handed down last month to a 32-year-old man in connection with the anti-regime protests in Iran while revising another decision.
The 32-year-old was alleged to have run over six police officers in November.
One policeman died and five were injured, the authority announced on its website.
At the same time, the death sentence given to an Iranian-Kurdish rapper was revised by the Supreme Court.
Saman J had been sentenced to death at the end of October for criticising the government in his songs, according to UN rapporteurs.
The sentence was overturned on Saturday, according to a report on the judiciary’s website.
Now, the rapper is to be tried again.
So far, two protesters have been executed in Iran for their involvement in the protests that have been going on for more than three months, including rap musician Mohsen S.
Both were charged with “waging war against God,” which according to Islamic legal opinion carries the death sentence.
Iranian press reports say more than 20 other demonstrators are on the judiciary’s death list.
