‘Makes us sick’: Brisbane suburbs targeted in pro-Nazi flyer drop

Auchenflower and Paddington residents have been shocked to find pro-Nazi flyers making the rounds in their letterboxes.

The leaflets, created by the National Socialist Network, encouraged residents to “join your local Nazis”.

Jason Steinberg, the president of the Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies, told Bill McDonald it’s left an uneasy feeling in the community.

“It makes us sick to the pit of our stomach to know there are still people in a place like Brisbane that have this hate in their heart against Jewish people,” he said.

“We’re seeing a rise in antisemitism across Queensland, Australia and the world. That comes about because of misinformation, … because of deep-seated ideas that are just wrong.

“One of the flyers talks about conspiracy theories that Jews run the world. I mean, that kind of ideology and those tropes are just wrong.”

Police are continuing to investigate.
