Israel accused of war crimes in Jenin

After two days of Israel’s largest military operation in two decades, Palestinians living in the west bank city of Jenin are today emerging from their homes to confront the destruction left in the wake of the assault.

The attacks have caused widespread damage to homes, roadways and other infrastructure.

The Israeli Defence Force says it was targeting Palestinian militants, which it says were operating from a refugee camp inside the city.

But the United Nations is calling the response “disproportionate”.
