On ABC Q&A there was a reasonable question from a member of the audience that unfortunately only succeeded in scraping the surface but revealed that multiculturalism in Australia is in deep trouble.
Despite the nub of the issue with the breakdown in social cohesion being antisemitism, islamophobia always has to be mentioned as well with a reference given to the incident in Epping Plaza where two women were assaulted by a Turkish woman with mental health issues and a track record of committing acts of violence against others including a previous boy friend. With a welter of antisemitism in our society mentioning an isolated incident of alleged islamophobia is very disingenuous.
The ABC presenter Karvelas feigned concerns over whether the person who asked the question had personally experienced what he was talking about.
Tim Watts MP referred to how the media has devoted scant attention to other conflicts around the world where many more people have died than in Gaza. That provided a good lead-in to the clip from the Yemeni activist at UN Watch. For Tim Watts to suggest that there are those on both sides who are seeking to divide is quite frankly an insult to the Jewish community that is trying desperately to stay safe and avoid bullying and intimidation. The blame is squarely on the side of those who are spewing antiZionism and constantly attacking Jews for supporting Israel.
The underlying issue behind this discussion is the fact that Israel is constantly treated as a punching bag and made the brunt of the world. The waffle and distraction from the core of the issue as to why Israel is continually picked on by the nations of the world, the left-wing media and too many of our own deluded citizens was not dealt with by the ABC – they would never go there. Unlike the ABC the Yemeni who spoke at the UN didn’t mince words.
At least there is a hint from the ABC Q&A discussion that what is going on in the Middle East is causing many Australians to hyperventilate. Unfortunately that is emanating from too many who are completely ignorant of the Israel-Palestine dispute in particular, deluded people who have been hoodwinked by anti-Israel propaganda.
