According to this extraordinary example of journalistic pro-Palestinians propanda, “Melbournians protested the recent violence in Palestine and Gaza at the Free Palestine rally, State Library Victoria”
Check out the images by Chris Hopkins at The Age which depict Israel in a subtle derogatory, distorted, demeaning fashion.
To begin with none of the violence is stated as taking place in Israel, Israel is reconfigured somehow to becoming Palestine that Israel has dispossessed.
Pictures of the support shown for Donald Trump are meant to categorise all the pro-Israel supporters as being “Right-wing, pro-Trump and anti-islamists”.
When an encounter occurs between the two sides it is the pro Palistine (sic) supporter who is offended by taunts from pro-Israel protestors.
All the women in the photographs seem to be wearing hijabs. The hijab, along with the dehumanising niqab and burqa, are symbols of oppression. Somalian born author and activist, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, describes Muslim headscarves as a means in which a deeply patriarchal culture oppresses women. Yet the photographer seems to be going out of his way to associate women wearing hijabs with his photo-essay. Women are depicted as being subjugated, but the blame for their victimhood and suffering that are rooted in their culture is channeled on to Israel.
The pro-Palestinian protagonists also seem to be be-decked sanctimoniously in religious garb, ignoring the significant contribution coming from the anti-semitic left at the rally.
This kind of rank journalism is what one might expect from Green Left Weekly or Red Flag.
