The border between Syria and Israel has been thick with smoke from explosions, as forces loyal to the Syrian regime blitz rebel-held areas.
The onslaught has pushed tens of thousands of Syrian civilians towards Israel’s closed border fence, where a growing number are seeking sanctuary.
The refugees are aligned with rebel groups, who have been supported by Israel to fight their common enemies.
Some say Israel now has a duty to protect them.
