Iranian authorities have announced a new campaign forcing women to wear the Islamic headscarf, with police patrols returning to streets just 10 months after a women’s death in custody sparked widespread protests.
Kylie Moore-Gilbert is an Australian scholar of the Middle East who was held hostage in an Iranian prison for over 800 days after being falsely accused of espionage. She joined Richard Glover on Drive to discuss how protesters have been brutalised and executed, how the ‘morality police’ patrols made their return, and the generational battle over the headscarf.
