FORMER JCA president Peter Philippsohn has been made the eighth JCA life governor.
Philippsohn served as JCA allocations committee chairperson, appeal chairman, on several task forces and committees and, most recently, as president for four years between 2011 and 2014.
Accepting the honour, Philippsohn said the life governors help the organisation maintain contact with JCA’s history, to provide a council which can speak from experience, and most of all speak up about what is right not who is right.
Reflecting on the monthly meetings he had with life governors while president, he said, “I saw this meeting as a private performance review for the president and CEO.”
“Though the discussion was always respectful, it was often robust. The input given was not from armchair coaches but from ex-players who knew and still know the game.”

[For those like me perplexed by what is the JCA I can tell you that the JCA is the communal hub of the NSW and ACT Jewish communities, connecting the needs of communal members with the services provided by communal organisations.]
