The Jewish International Film Festival (JIFF) has launched a short film fund, aimed at supporting emerging filmmakers and films that engage with Jewish life, history and culture.
This year, two grants of $5000 each are available for the production of a short film incorporating a Jewish theme, character or story arc. It may take the form of a narrative, documentary or animation.
Treatments and scripts should be under 10 minutes, and be “universally engaging and entertaining, and able to resonate with audiences from all backgrounds”.
The grant recipients will be selected by panel of industry professionals, and the shorts will screen at JIFF 2017, held October-November.
“We are excited for JIFF to be a catalyst for the production of great Australian short films to be shared on the big screen,” said JIFF artistic director Eddie Tamir.
The scheme is open to all filmmakers resident in Australia. Apply at jiff.com.au.
Applications close on May 5, with the funding allocation to be announced June 7.
