Donald Trump visited the sacred Western Wall during his trip to Israel, becoming the first sitting U.S. president to do so.
Wearing a black yamulke, Trump approached the wall, paused and swayed in what I guess could be called *quiet reflection*, then placed a customary letter inside it.
It’s the holiest site where Jewish people can pray, so naturally the juxtaposition of a giant hate carrot and a sacred holy site was going to cause some controversy – especially given Trump’s fetish for giant walls.
The Twitter pile-on for what was supposed to be a somewhat historic moment for the president was absolutely huge, with everyone from seasoned journos to Bette Middler joining in on the fun:
