There’s nothing funny about the Arab-Israeli conflict and often, dance isn’t terribly funny either.
The dance piece We Love Arabs upends expectations and has a comic slant on the stereotypes of both Arabs and Israelis.
In this work, a Jewish choreographer and Arab dancer work together to create a dance piece using physical humour and satire to subvert cliches and prejudice.
The performers are Hillel Cogan, Batsheva’s Rehearsal Director, and Adi Boutrous, dancer and choreographer.
We Love Arabs is part of Melbourne Festival, it’s on from Wednesday 18 to 22 October.
