Jewish groups are urging the Turnbull government to continue agitating for reform of the United Nations Human Rights Council after the Trump administration quit the body in frustration and blasting it as a “cesspool of political bias”.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop ruled out following America’s lead and expressed disappointment at the US decision.
“Australia shares many of the concerns held by the US about the UNHRC, particularly its anti-Israel bias, and we have consistently supported efforts to address other matters of contention,” she said.
