A team of swimmers, tennis players, and track and field athletes representing the City of Lake Macquarie are this week competing at the International Children’s Games (ICG) in Jerusalem.
The International Children’s Games is the biggest youth multi-sport event in the world and has representation from 75 cities.
The games have been attended by Lake Macquarie athletes each year since 2008. Lake Macquarie hosted the event in 2014.
There are 11 athletes in the 2018 Lake Macquarie team, aged between 12 and 15.
“The ICG is a wonderful experience for young people that shapes them as athletes and leaders of the future,” Lake Macquarie mayor Kay Fraser said.
