The Lord Jesus gave sight to the blind, and so is a new app that’s allowing visually impaired people to experience and appreciate holy sites like Jerusalem.
Religion News Service reports that the app is part of wide ranging initiative to make the Old City accessible for people with disabilities.
Launching the app earlier this month, Mayor of Jerusalem Moshe Lion says everyone involved in developing the touring app considered it a holy mission.
Tourist Refuit Golan and two dozen other visually impaired people meandered through the Old City’s warren-like alleyways alongside several sighted companions with the help of the app.
Ms Golan says the app added details and descriptions that a blind person would otherwise miss out on.
The app was created by the Centre for the Blind in Israel and is available in English, Russian, Arabic, and Hebrew.
