Benjamin Netanyahu becomes Israel’s longest-serving leader

Benjamin Netanyahu will today surpass Israel’s founding prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, to become the nation’s longest-serving leader.

It’s a remarkable achievement in a country where governments rarely last a full term.

But Mr Netanyahu passes this milestone at a time of unprecedented vulnerability, as he faces both a re-run general election and a court hearing on corruption charges.
