Palestinian Authority’s censorship attempt prompts backlash

The Palestinian Authority has been embarrassed by an intense public backlash against its latest attempt to suppress domestic dissent.

The Authority administers the Palestinian cities and towns in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and has been trying to demonstrate that it’s democratic and deserving of continued international support.

But an attempt to block news websites and social media pages critical of the Authority has angered the public and forced it to back down.
