Author Diane Armstrong reveals how she came to write her latest book, ‘The Collaborator’, which was inspired by a true story from WWII.
Author Diane Armstrong is coming to Hornsby Library to speak about her latest book, ‘The Collaborator’.
She said the story is based on an astonishing true story that took place in Budapest in 1944 during the Holocaust.
“As soon as I heard it, I was transfixed and I knew at once that I’d have to write about it,” Ms Armstrong said.
“It is a historical novel but it is also a story of passion, vengeance, and a secret that has poisoned the lives of three generations of women in Australia.”
The Sydney based author told the Hornsby Advocate she hopes readers enjoy the book.
“I’m looking forward to my session at Hornsby Library and sharing my trials and tribulations of writing this novel,” she said.
“I’ll be happy to answer any questions that people have. I hope readers will be as enthralled as I was by the scenes with the dreaded Adolf Eichmann.
“I would like them to be tantalised by the tragic consequences of the hero’s incredible courage and by the moral ambiguity at the heart of this novel: can a man be a hero and a traitor?”
