Recently a small group from the Byron Friends of Palestine trekked across the sand to Little Wategos to send a message to passers-by.
The seven gathered with rakes, builders string and pegs and Palestinian flags.
‘We took advantage of the low tide and raked our messages on the sand so they could be seen from a lookout on the lighthouse path,’ said Gareth Smith. ‘We were encouraged by some surfers and by a nude septuagenarian and discussed our reasons for the action with a Christian Zionist.
‘We plan to regularly repeat this protest as a small way for us to Think Globally and Act Locally given the media blackout on the unfolding Gazan tragedy.’
