Spanning history and geography, comedy and drama, love and friendship, struggle and serenity, the Jewish International Film Festival returns to Luna Palace, Leederville from February 23 to March 16.
“Adapting to change has been a theme for all of us over the last two years and our selection of films only highlights the challenges that come with adapting to change; a story all too familiar to Jewish people,” says JIFF artistic director Eddie Tamir.
“Amongst the cacophony of infinite entertainment choices available to us today, we are privileged to present this wonderfully curated program of incredible stories for the 2022 edition of JIFF, alongside a lively program of events and experiences.”
This year’s JIFF features 55 films: 31 features, 25 documentaries, TV series episodes and 6 short films, as well as live events.
Olivier Dahan’s biopic, Simone Veil: A Woman of the Century, opens the festival, completing a trilogy of films which includes La Vie en Rose and Grace of Monaco. For closing night, there are two episodes from the Israeli period drama The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem, which series “spans three generations of a family set against the backdrop of the Ottoman Empire, the British Mandate, and the establishment of the Jewish state”.
