Changes to reduce plans for Perth Jewish Community Centre out for public comment

The developers behind an $11 million redevelopment of the Perth Jewish Community Centre have applied to make changes to the approved plans.

Maccabi WA had proposed to demolish its centre on Woodrow Avenue, Yokine, which the Jewish community has called home since 1952, and replace it with a two-storey community and childcare centre with cafe.

The community centre would include a Holocaust education centre, youth group wing, lecture theatre and function room.

However, the City of Stirling is seeking feedback on an application to reduce the community and childcare centre from two storeys to one storey and relocate it from the west to the east of the site.

It is also asked to reduce the centre’s capacity from 120 children to 104 children, and allow for up to 20 staff, increased from 19.

The existing carpark to the west of the proposed building will also no longer be modified.
