Soapbox for Labor busybodies

Not content with pushing for the Albanese government to recognise Palestine as a state, when it is nothing of the kind without legally defined borders and a negotiated settlement, Labor Party activists have taken up the cudgels for Irish unity. The left-wing Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, whose Victorian state secretary, Tony Mavromatis, would not be out of place spruiking into a megaphone beside the Falls Road in West Belfast, is leading the charge.

“I’ve got a passion to see peace around the world and allowing working-class people to have a voice, whether it is in Ireland, whether it is in Greece, whether it is in Palestine, whether it is Israel,” he says. “We want to see power to the people.” And, it would appear, interference from abroad.
