Last Sunday night I attended an NIF event with Roger Cohen, who has worked for The New York Times for 25 years as a foreign correspondent, foreign editor, and now columnist; prior to that he worked for The Wall Street Journal and Reuters. Cohen’s columns frequently include expert analysis on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, global Jewish affairs, and the Iranian nuclear issue.
I wrote an opinion piece about what Roger Cohen said in a conversation conducted by Julie Szego, writer and Fairfax columnist, who has worked at The Age for 12 years and wrote a column for The Australian Jewish News for seven years. Listen to my radio program where I discuss what Roger Cohen had to say.
I welcome back to the program Dr Martin Sherman, CEO of the Israel Institute for Strategic Studies. Until recently Martin has been writing a regular column for The Jerusalem Post titled ‘Into the Fray’. We discussed Israeli current affairs, in particular a proposal to provide Gaza with a port and current peace initiatives. We reconsidered Martin’s idea about enticing the Palestinian population in the West Bank to leave and other possible scenarios.
