Bob Carr using ‘extravagant language’ on Israel: Kevin Rudd

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has chastised former Foreign Minister Bob Carr for using “extravagant language” when speaking about Israel’s relationship with Palestine.

Mr Rudd, who now heads the Asia Society Policy Institute, a US-based think tank, said while he supports a two-state solution, he does not agree with how Mr Carr characterised the situation.

Mr Carr, who served as former Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s foreign minister, drew the ire of pro-Israel groups when he described Israel’s behaviour as “foul”, “cruel”, “getting crueller”, “poisonous”, “hateful”, “illegal”, “aggressive” and “chauvinist”.
