One man has been arrested and another has hit a photographer as rival groups meet at protests in Melbourne’s CBD.
The man, wearing a black covering from his neck to just under his eyes, was arrested under Victoria’s new anti-face covering laws at an anti-racism rally in front of the State Library on Swanston Street.
As he was arrested and searched, the man yelled at journalists for being “unethical” in filming his arrest. He was issued with a move-on order.
Another was arrested after hitting a photographer from Australian Associated Press.
