Spoiled for choice as a ‘back-fill’ correspondent in Jerusalem

For a correspondent, so called ‘back-fill’ assignments offer the best of all worlds.

They involve filling in for a correspondent who is away and a chance to immerse yourself in a new situation, or perhaps to re-visit somewhere you’ve reported on over the years.

The only thing back-fill correspondents need is news to cover – and for his latest stint in Jerusalem, Norman Hermant has had that in spades.
