Moriah College principal John Hamey has announced he will retire as the head of the prestigious eastern suburbs Jewish school.
School president Stephen Jankelowitz emailed parents last night informing them Mr Hamey would see out the 2018 school year.
His replacement has not yet been named.
“After 16 years in executive roles in schools, including 12 years of leadership at Moriah, John has decided to take some time to concentrate on his own professional renewal,” Mr Jankelowitz said.
“He will be taking his sabbatical leave at the beginning of next year and will be engaging in further study and spending more time with his family before seeking new leadership opportunities.”
Mr Jankelowitz said Mr Hamey served with distinction and exemplary educational vision during his seven years as principal and prior to that, as deputy principal, head of high school and acting college principal.
