A British Pink Floyd tribute band has scrapped three upcoming shows in Israel, after co-founder of the legendary rock band Roger Waters publicly called for a boycott.
The UK Pink Floyd Experience had been scheduled to perform in the Israeli cities Tel Aviv, Haifa and Beersheba on January 4, 5 and 6.
Waters, who co-founded Pink Floyd in 1965, routinely calls for a boycott of Israel during his performances and has in the past included balloons shaped like pigs and emblazoned with the Star of David.
Taking to Facebook, Waters posted an image of the tribute band alongside a picture of a wounded, bloodied child.
“To sing my songs in front of segregated audiences in Israel, and contribute to the cultural whitewashing of the racist and apartheid government of that country, would be an act of unconscionable malice and disrespect,” Waters said.
