As Israel prepares for an historic re-run of its national elections, a key question is whether the country’s sizeable Arab minority will turn out to help unseat sitting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Arab voters make up almost one fifth of Israel’s electorate, but less than half of them voted in the last election, citing perceived discrimination, alienation and apathy as key factors in staying home.
Now there’s a new push to not only encourage Israeli Arabs to the polling booth, but to get them into government — something that’s never happened in Israel’s history.
