Israel expels HRW’s Omar Shakir over alleged boycott support

The country director of global organisation Human Rights Watch has been forced to leave Israel after being accused of supporting boycotts of the country.

The Israeli Government revoked Omar Shakir’s work permit after he and other human rights groups urged accommodation booking websites not to list properties in Jewish settlements in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

His departure comes as other human rights campaigners say they’re being targeted by the Israeli Government for their work.
