I wish to commend the director of the Qbank gallery and acting mayor of the West Coast Council for their condemnation of the anti-Semitic hate speech painted on the wall of the gallery in Queenstown and the prompt action to remove it.
Anti-Semitism is an ancient evil that has targeted Jews over centuries and because people have looked the other way, it led to the genocide of millons, most recently perpetrated by the Russians and the Nazis.
It always starts with hate speech and desecration of synagogues and should never be tolerated by civilised society. A beautiful artwork to replace the vandalism is a great way of showing this .
