Paddington cafe owner hits back at vile anti-Semitic graffiti, trolling

The defiant owner of an inner-west cafe has hit back after being targeted with vile anti-Israeli graffiti and social media posts.

The owner of an Israeli cafe in Paddington has spoken out after vile graffiti was scrawled on the footpath outside his business and his Instagram page was targeted.

Michael Lenga, owner of Yababa (slang for “dad’’), said it was the second such incident since he opened about 18 months ago in the inner-west suburb.

He believed the same person or people were involved, as similar wording was used both times.

After the first incident he called police, who said they would step up patrols of the area, but he had not contacted them this time.

“I was born in Israel, I grew up there. You have to take this seriously because sometimes these people mean business,’’ Mr Lenga said.

“I don’t know why they (chose) me. I’ve nothing to do with politics, my job is to serve.

“I came out to Australia because it’s peaceful.’’

Mr Lenga said because some members of his family were Holocaust victims he was well aware Israelis could be targeted.

The words “Palestinian food, Zionists’’ were scrawled in chalk on the footpath.
