Netanyahu’s right-wing headache

Right-wing parties won a clear victory in Israel’s recent election. Forming a government, however, is proving much harder than the presumptive prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, expected. The Religious Zionist bloc wants key security jobs in the cabinet, which would tighten Israel’s control over the Palestinian West Bank.

A riot by Israeli extremists in Hebron at the weekend has also made moderates in Israel’s parliament nervous about handing power to the religious right Irris Makler updates us from Jerusalem.
