Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has announced a joint Australia and Israel venture for a new commercial dairy farm in Wagga Wagga, using Israel’s latest dairy and agriculture technology.
In a column in The Australian newspaper, commemorating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s first visit to Australia, Mr Turnbull said both countries must work together.
‘‘Australia and Israel understand the value of creativity and innovation,’’ Mr Turnbull said.
‘‘Together our scientists and business people are partners in every field of technology.
‘‘The new facilities will provide Australian farmers with an opportunity to benefit from world-leading Israeli dairy and agricultural technology.’’
The project, labelled Project Bridge, is being funded by Sydney-based investment firm Blue River Group, which acquired the Riverina Fresh brand, based in Wagga Wagga, from Fonterra Australia in 2016.
Blue River Group’s co-chief executive officer Grant Fuzi said the project was consistent with the company’s ethos of developing projects that generated commercial returns and achieved positive social or environmental outcomes.
