Greg Sheridan, in his dissection of the fight back by Labor MP Michael Danby against the ABC reporting on Israel (“Its response to Danby lays bare ABC’s hubris”, 14/10), hits the nail on the head. However, the censure of Danby by Bill Shorten once again demonstrates how the Opposition Leader is quick to side with whoever he thinks will win him most support, even at the expense of an honest member of his party.
Well done, Greg Sheridan, for an insightful analysis of why Michael Danby needed to draw the attention of electors to the ABC’s unfair treatment of Israel. How disappointing that our national broadcaster chose not to take the opportunity to interview the Labor MP about his criticisms and instead dismissed them.
The disturbing thing about the ABC’s anti-Israel bias is that it conceals an anti-Jewish sentiment. As Martin Luther King Jr said: “When people criticise Zionists they mean Jews, you are talking anti-Semitism.”
