This Week in History: The Fall of Babylon

The fall of Babylon this week in history in 539 BC marked the end of an empire probably best known today for its famed hanging gardens, and as a place of Jewish exile after Babylon invaded Jerusalem.

But what was Babylon really like?

Professor Javier Alvarez Mon from the Department of Ancient History at Macquarie University joined Indira Naidoo to shed some light on empire that’s often mentioned, but little understood.
